The art of making bubbles

There’s a fine art to making bubbles. You need the right soapy mixture, the proper bubble making tool and just the right about of breath. Before one departs for a bubble making mission one must take stock of his/her assets and inventory. If one gizmo or widget is missing the whole plan goes to hell.

I know what I’d like to be my next bubble mission: it’s a sexy neo noir action thriller I’ve adapted from one of my earlier scripts. Aside from an occasional short film that may show its head in the future I’ve pretty much had my fill of microbudget films. I’m looking at low budget in the high six to low seven figure range. My goal is to shoot an obscenely expensive film one day and I’ll never secure that opportunity making $50k films.

KILL THEORY is hopefully my next project. When? I don’t know. I only know that it’s a stepping stone to my passion / heart / artistic / social issue film, LEGEND OF BLACK LOTUS, which might very well end up being an obscenely expensive film (at least when compared to my current standards).

One of my mentors advised me, not to make my first film until I was 100% committed to making my third. The nine or so shorts i made i consider learning tools. My first feature, SEX, SHOES AND UNICORNS was an experiment. Now we’re getting down to the nutty gritty with BROKEN HEARTS CLUB and SERIOUS ROGERS in the can.

I’m ready to make some big frakking bubbles.

Deterrence Theory is a good niche genre film to get started and as I discovered today, a few of the necessary elements are already accessible. In the back of my mind I see a joint effort between my cohorts FAR overseas. Gotta go where the money is.

DVD NEW RELEASE- “PULP FUSION: The RAW Shorts Collection”

PULP FUSION:
The Raw Shorts Collection by Angelo Bell

NEW DVD RELEASE

Don’t miss the surprise trailer at the very end of this auction ad :)

This is a Brand New, self-made DVD collection by independent filmmaker Angelo Bell. I self-distribute my films using my MacBookPro. I have 13 film credits, two “best in fest” awards and I made history at the Los Angeles ShortsFest in 2007 when FOUR of my shorts were accepted into the festival. My credits are at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1479226/

This DVD short film collection comprises the first of several “Pulp Fusion Series” DVDs that I’ll be releasing as part of my Independent self-distribution model. My films are now available to a global audience. The second film in the series, “Pulp Fusion: The Resurrection of Serious Rogers,” is actually a 2-hour feature film and contains several clips and sequences from “Pulp Fusion: The Raw Shorts.” The next DVD will include director interviews explaining how I rewrote the narrative for a previous film to include clips from several of my other films. It was an amazing process. But more on that later. Let’s talk about RAW.

On the DVD you get FIVE short films and a director video totalling over an hour of entertainment. The short films cover the gamut of genres and often contain multiple genres. There’s art house, action, drama, noir, girls-with-guns, satire and comedy. The films discuss drug abuse, heroin addiction, human trafficking, murder, love, sisterhood, friendship, sacrifice and of course, murder in the first degree. It’s great entertainment. And you’ll want to want each short film over and over again. If I do say so myself, the writing is exemplary and has gotten many kudos.

As I mentioned, you get FIVE films. Get Spielberg, Renounced, Valerie & Sid, The First Time and I know Who Shot You. Here are the trailers for the films

Resolving to be Resolute in 2009

Welcoming the New Year…

2009, here I come. First things first: I’m going to spend some time learning how to further thwart butthole spammers who sign up for my email list. It’s so silly how they enter obvious fake names and fake email addresses expecting me to add them to my list. I mean c’mon guys — read my blog at least; I was an I.T. guy for 9 years, for Chrissakes. I know spam and hack attacks when I see them.

I took a break from taking down my faux Christmas tree. This is the last year for fake trees. According to recent research I’ve read, real trees are better for the environment. That’s cool with me. I like real trees. I’m not a Douglas Fir kind of dood; I’m more of a Noble aficionado.

I know some people abhor the idea of making resolutions for the New Year. I think it’s kinda whack to hate-on something that can do you no wrong. The New Year is significant enough of a beginning to work with our endeavors for self-improvement so… why not?

Today, in the spirit of woefully ignorant New Year’s superstitions, I am drinking from [...click here to read more from “The Psychology of Independent Filmmaking” Blog
