The Apocalypse, a Script and Beer Pong

Very busy week last week!

I’ve been working on a script with my friend Jim Rhodimer on Apocalyptic Playground, a steampunk sci-fi project, which we’re crowdfunding on Indiegogo here: http://www.indiegogo.com/apocalyptic-playground. to make it easier to collaborate since Jim has already written two-thirds of the script, I’ve taken the lead on  two of the subplots. One plot has religious implications the other has military implications — both are right up my alley.

Saturday we shot several promos for the Indiegogo campaign. They turned out to be super good! Here are the links on Youtube. Feel free to pass them along:

Here’s a picture from the shoot:

Earlier in the week I attended a fundraiser for the film project, House of Color, which also has an Indiegogo campaign. You can find it here:

The fundraiser was held at a bar called South in Santa Monica and they sponsored a beer pong tournament. Beer pong is a drinking game in which players throw a ping pong ball across a table with the intent of landing the ball in a cup of beer on the other end.

Earlier in the week I started red pen proofing of my script, Legend of Black Lotus  after I finished onscreen edits and printed a hardcopy. I’m halfway through. Here’s the pic:

Reading, Writing and Producing New Projects

I’m totally focused on writing and rewriting this year. With Legend of Black Lotus finally getting to the place I need it to be (more marketable) and a few other scripts in need of rewrites, I have a busy schedule. But I’m never to busy to jump on set.

That’s why I’m happy to announce that I will be a Producer on two awesome indie projects!  These projects couldn’t be more different and that makes me even more excited.

The first project is called Apocalyptic Playground and was conceived by my good friend Jim Rhodimer who shot and cut my web series, Resurrection of Serious Rogers.  Jim’s been working on this sci-fi adventure gem for some time and now we’re raising money on Indiegogo to turn the web series into a feature film. The thing that excites me about this project is the abundance of talent surrounding it. Also, Jim is a fantastic FX editor with a true DIY spirit. Apocalyptic Playground will be a cinematic and visual spectacle. If you can, please visit the Indiegogo page and donate.

The second project is an interracial drama, House of Color, by my new friends and filmmaking colleagues  Tony Joun and Daniel Marcha. These very cool folks are developing a writing a project that explores the dynamics of race relations, particularly between Koreans and African Americans.

I’ve joined the project as a producer and will be consulting on the script, on crowdfunding and on general production. The official Facebook page for the film is here:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/House-of-Color/319011704806695. We will launch an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign very soon. I’ll also be working with my long time friend and AD, Kevin Huie, who introduced me to the team.

Apocalyptic Playground: From Web Series To Feature Film

As a sci-fi geek, I’m excited to be a part of this awesome #scifi #indie film, Apocalyptic Playground. Trust me, you have never seen anything like this!

The writer/director, Jim Rhodimer, is a personal friend who helped my film/series Resurrection of Serious Rogers see the light of day. Can you help make it happen on Indiegogo? Any donation will help.
